My name is Ziva and I am a Shiba Inu, which is a Japanese breed of dog. I was left at the shelter with my three puppies with no information about me or my babies. But the nice people at the shelter called me Foxy and took good care of me. They posted my picture on the adoption page and my new mother saw me there. She found a Shiba rescue organization and a nice lady in Jackson that would take me to my forever home.

But then, everything changed when my new mother picked me up. She had agreed to keep me at her home for two weeks before driving me to meet my new family. And she didn't think she could have a dog at home because 6 months earlier, she had adopted a kitten named Elizabeth Taylor from NACHS. But Elizabeth Taylor and I got along great after the first day, and on day three, my mother called the rescue people and told them I would be staying with her permanently.

Now I live here with my NACHS sister, and life is wonderful. Elizabeth and I play all day long and keep each other company. Mama catches us napping together all the time. She is very proud of me because I came home housetrained, polite, and well behaved, and also because I like cats. She always tells me that I am the best girl-and I am. We walk every day and I go on car trips with her (I love the car). My mother didn't think she could have a dog at home because our yard doesn't have a fence, but we do just fine on the leash. Elizabeth and I have much better lives now, but my mother says we really changed her life for the better. She tells people to adopt from the shelter because shelter pets know that you are giving them a second chance and they'll love you more for it. She says I'm the best dog she's ever had and I can't argue with that.
