Valerie

Valerie with Alina Sharp

Valerie's Happy Tail is truly an amazing tale.  She arrived at our shelter as an anonymous "drop off" on one of the coldest days of the winter.   At that time she was in a completely emaciated condition and very hypothermic.  We estimated that this lab mix was around 9 months old but she weighed only 14 pounds.

Two days of care at Dr. Savant's office had her feeling well enough to go into a temporary home placement.   She was called "Valerie" because the name means strong and healthy - the main goal for this dog.   Each week she made tremendous progress, both physically and mentally.  She gained an incredible 25 pounds in two months and learned to play with her foster sister dogs and to walk on a leash.

Then one day she met her new family, Ryan, Susanna and Alina Sharp.   Did I mention that Susanna is a gourmet chef as well as manager of a local restaurant?   What justice for a formerly starved dog to go into a home where good food is appreciated!  Valerie is now beautiful and healthy and enjoys her new life with her family.
